Andrew Jones has been the MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough since 2010. Originally from Ilkley and educated locally at Bradford Grammar School and Leeds University, Andrew lives in Harrogate.
Andrew is the Exchequer Secretary to Her Majesty’s Treasury. In HM Treasury, Andrew is responsible for UK growth and productivity, indirect taxes, the Royal Mint and the Crown Estate and the Royal Household. Previously Andrew had been a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Transport.
From May 2003 to May 2011 Andrew was a local councilor on Harrogate Borough Council, representing High Harrogate ward. He was also Cabinet Member for Resources from May 2003 to May 2010.
Since being elected in 2010, Andrew has been a Parliamentary Private Secretary on the health, business and transport teams. He has also chaired the Northern Electrification Taskforce which provided the Secretary of State for Transport with advice on the next steps for electrification of railways in the North of England.
A passionate cricket fan, Andrew has been a member of Yorkshire County Cricket Club for over 25 years, and has travelled to several countries following England’s overseas test matches.
