Question Time for Harrogate Convention Centre bosses

Harrogate Convention Centre

The Convention Centre is worth an annual £60million to Harrogate's economy

The director of Harrogate Convention Centre and other senior managers will put themselves before the town’s business community next month at a ‘Question Time’ session at the venue.

The event, called Engage With Your Convention Centre, takes place on July 27th and will see Simon Kent open up the floor to questions on the venue’s short and long-term business strategy, as well as its place within the local economy.

“Our business is a vital cog in the town’s economic success,” he said, “but there is a symbiosis between the Convention Centre and the other businesses in town.

“We want Harrogate to be the home of events but we rely on the town’s great range of hotels, shops and restaurants to make it an attractive destination to the hundreds of thousands of business visitors our venue brings in each year.

“Myself and fellow senior managers from the centre are hoping to see a good turn-out of business owners and managers from sectors such as hospitality, accommodation, travel and those involved in the night time economy.

“It’s through communication and exchanging ideas that we can continue to ensure Harrogate remains an attractive prospect for business and leisure visitors.”

The Engage event follows a busy first quarter for the Convention Centre. The business underwent a rebranding and name change in April, along with a new website developed by Harrogate-based Extreme Creations.

The business has also assembled a group of influential Ambassadors to promote the venue as a location for conferences and exhibitions.

The Ambassadors include Jean MacQuarrie, editor of The Harrogate Advertiser, who will chair the event.

Engage With Your Convention Centre takes place at 6pm on Thursday, July 27 in the Kings Suite at Harrogate Convention Centre.

Questions can be submitted prior to the event or can put to the panel on the night.
