Professor Philip Kotler is regarded as the Father of Modern Marketing. For over 50 years, he taught at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. When asked why he wanted to come to Harrogate, the 89 year-old legend says:
“Harrogate is symbolic of everything that is great in Great Britain. It is a classic case study in its own right of successful and global place branding but also what I refer to as humanistic marketing – evidenced by it being consistently being voted as the happiest place to live in the United Kingdom. The evidence is always in the pudding, many places can claim to be something but are they really what they claim to be? Harrogate is everything which it claims to be and therefore was a befitting location for our inaugural Summit in the United Kingdom”.
